What We Do
Towunmi Coker Initiative is a Federally Incorporated Non-profit organization in Canada and provincially registered in Alberta. We empower black individuals, especially vulnerable groups, by dismantling gender and racial barriers through targeted education, mentorship, and career support, fostering equity, resilience, and holistic community development.
Education
Education stands as the cornerstone of our mission to empower black individuals, particularly those in vulnerable groups. We believe that knowledge is a powerful catalyst for positive change, and as such, we are dedicated to providing targeted educational opportunities that transcend traditional barriers. Through innovative programs, workshops, and partnerships, we aim to equip our community with the skills and insights needed to overcome challenges, break down gender and racial barriers, and realize their full potential. By fostering a commitment to lifelong learning, we aspire to create a pathway for individuals to navigate the complexities of the modern world with confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose.
Mentorship
We recognize the transformative power of guidance, encouragement, and shared experiences in the personal and professional growth of black individuals, especially those facing vulnerabilities. Through our mentorship programs and career support programs, we strive to connect individuals with seasoned mentors who can provide valuable insights, support, and a roadmap for success. By fostering meaningful one-on-one relationships, we aim to instill confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging within our community. Our commitment to mentorship is a testament to the belief that by lifting each other up, we create a ripple effect of empowerment, breaking down barriers and paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable future.
Finance
Provide financial literacy programs that help our clients build new financially responsible habits towards achieving financial stability.
Health
Promote safe health practices in our communities with an emphasis on mental health awareness to ensure that our clients have a robust development of mind, body & soul. This will be done via hosting monthly pop-up wellness sessions to address issues and educate our clients on how to achieve comprehensive and holistic wellness.
Education
Provide quality culturally sensitive educational (financial, artistic, entrepreneurial etc) programmes to kids and young adults via workshops, summer camps, competitions, etc, to help nurture their talents and build social skills that will help develop them into better adults in their communities.

Through targeted education, career support, mentorship, and mentoring, we strive to break down racial and gender barriers to empower black people, especially those who are vulnerable. We also promote equity, resilience, and holistic community development.
To empower the marginalized in our community, give voice to the voiceless, and hope to the despondent.
